S.W.A.T. Vs. Militia: Pros & Cons

Instead of adding a nice intro, I'll skip to what you came here for.

S.W.A.T.

PROS (as I see it)

Helicopter to hide behind.
Fence to shoot at moving militia team.
Access to roof glitch, which can be very annoying.

CONS

Can be flanked from the trench by militia. If not seen coming, can be fatal.
If the team does not clear out of the starting position fast, they can be easily surrounded and slaughtered by the Militia.
Farther away from the "ammo house" than the Militia, who can cut off their ammo supply.

Militia

PROS:

Suits match with the surrounding environment, making them able to blend into the area easily.
Very close to the "ammo house" which can serve as both a tactical position and a stronghold.
Direct access to the heart of the S.W.A.T. base via the trench.
Quick access to several hiding spots in the downed crane and behind the fence (if they are fast enough).

CONS:

If the S.W.A.T. team takes positions correctly, they can thwart most attempts made by the Militia to kill them.
No good spots for snipers that does not leave them seriously exposed.
Can be sniped by S.W.A.T. team without warning.

My thoughts:
I think both teams have their advantages and disadvantages, which is what the designer was after. However, I usually like to play as a member of the militia because I think it is easier to sneak around the map with them, but that's just my opinion. Feel free to leave your own opinions about the teams because that's what all of these are. Opinions.

I agree with your assessment. The militia seems much easier to take control with. But: as you said, the Militia can be thwarted with some very simple stategies, i.e. a pincer movement from around the crane and into the Militia ditch.

On the old version of the map, I think militia had quite a strong advantage ever since sniper rifle was added. The militia side of the map is higher than the swat side. Also the militia start very close to prepared sniper positions. Militia can be set to snipe the silo-side SWAT base exit at the start of the game. They can also be set up to snipe the fence and the barn's front yard before SWAT can get to these positions. When teamtalk was added that also helped the Militia more than SWAT since militia can scout the map much more easily, especially if you send one team member to the crane hill.
