Militia can still snipe the hell out of SWAT

So in the first few days of the new map I thought SWAT had a big advantage... undoubtedly, the new buildings DO play more to SWAT's advantage than Militia's.

That is until I discovered that removing the pool (and the helicopter) gave the Militia two great sniping points that are right ON TOP of where they spawn. For each of these, you just take a few steps onto a small hillock, and because the map slopes down from Militia to SWAT, you can cover the SWAT lines of movement within the first half-second of the game.



Whichever Militia spawns next to these points can run up and have his snipe zoom set before SWAT even starts running out.

Particularly with Point #2, the SWAT are used to being able to run to the ruined building. I have head-shotted a lot of poor SWATs here Happy With Point #1, it is easy to snipe the SWAT as they pause and turn at the bottom of the ladder.

You also have an exact count of the SWAT who leave on each side and can relay that information via teamtalk ("3 left").

After the first few seconds of the game, you pack up your rifle and go somewhere else (like following a team towards the ruined building, or running through the barn towards the silo). The advantage you've gained in kills, hits (50 damage) and information, will be enough to win the round.

Wow u put time into this ty and i respect that :)

Now on ur post, nice sniping areas haven't noticed them. then again i don't use the sniper much cuz i would rather have it 100% accuracy :-/ I'll try them out next time i use sniper. Ty for the good post.

I have noticed this too, yet I don't use the sniper rifle at all. I do prefer to play as militia for most of the reasons you stated.

Now as a counter measure to this as a swat player, and this can be risky..... Wait 5-10 seconds before moving unless you are at the end of the spawn lines (either of the players closest to each corner of the building. They may have the time to dash out before the militia snipers/shooters can position themselves). This is a game where you must keep moving. Militia members standing still waiting for a shot, can get shot themselves.

I think the SWAT are in a better position if they all run out together, that way the two snipers have less time to headshot them all Happy

The best tactic for the SWAT is to run fast to the barn or the valley behind the barn, from where they can hit back at the snipers. I think you might also be able to hit them from the SWAT oil platform.

However no matter what, having two people who know how to use those sniper spots immediately discourages the SWAT from using the SWAT roof or running towards the ruined building, at least in the first part of the game.

I've found success in running to the hill between spot #1 and #2 and firing with the M4 as the SWAT run to the ladder. From that distance I can usually wound a couple, and get the occasional kill when someone gets stuck on the ladder :D

From that same spot you can also watch who is running towards the fence side. It does seem a little cheesy to wound people as they exit the base but it works well and discourages people from going up the ladder to snipe. Anything I can do to discourage snipers is a good thing ;)

I agree with WorstShot. It's just too easy too shoot the Swats when the game is starting. Also, as he said even if you don't wound anybody, you get a HUGE tactical advantage.

IMHO swat has the best sniping positions i can literally take 1-2 within 10 secs if they don't all scatter immediately from swat base all you need to do is run from front entrance jump and snipe ;D id much rather be on swat to snipe then militia. and plus those spots you highlighted are easy to snipe back and kill :P, and then also you can see how they scatter so where you need to cover more! :)

Militia has better sniping points, but I prefer SWAT more as I'm a CQB guy, and the SWAT starting area has quite a bit of cover, like the oil platform-thing, the fence and the broken house, not to mention the pipes and silo

Its a good sniping spot, but its the most dangerous spot to snipe at, well for me it is, there's just too many places where someone could just kill you from that spot.

not if your good at close range sniping time that's not a problem for you and you can snipe far away without using the scope at all.

I bet he's talking about standing BEHIND the broken house, utilizing the hole in the wall to shoot through the windows (he's not actually in the house but he's behind it, shooting through)

The value of these sniping points has changed a lot since I started the thread.

Back then, swat used to put 2-3 guys on their roof every round. So the sniper point that overlooked the SWAT ladder was like shooting fish in a barrel.

Nowadays with grenades, the map's hotspots are very different.

EErr... Militia isnt the only one that have good sniping places.

1# Swat roof of course. They can kill u when u are on ur way but its good.
2#If u have a sniper from last round u can quickly go to the closest corner (left) and snipe militia members while they are buying weapons. That happens a lot to me -.-
3# The "thing" in front of the swat house is also a good place.


I think its fair enough.
