As I live in EU I am wondering what they ask there? Do they assess math, language, logic, basic knowledge? Any examples of questions? Also do all college accept it or just some - every college has its own or is universal?

Are they necessary if you go to college or just option to get into free spot + scholars?

They divide it in three sections: math, reading, and writing. A lot of colleges focus mainly on the math and reading scores, and it is becoming a trend for some colleges to make SAT scores optional.
