Zero, if you look at the profile pictures, yours ends with a .png extension, theirs end in .jpg
A jpg file doesn't have transparency like a png does. That's the fix. Just tell them to upload the original .png you sent them.

However if you get a png file, and change it to jpg, it will still have transparent background, however it won't go onto photoshop, or you may have trouble uploading. I suggest sending them the original files (as korin mentioned) or use the Magic Wand Tool on photoshop to delete the black bit.... like so. (takes little time).
